last but not the least

after being very busy (paternity leave) and still lacking enough sleep i still manage to do other library tasks and was able to do a lot of restoration work lalo na encapsulation kahit medyu parang kinakalawang na ko after a long break, my hands are rusting kahit sa cataloging and isang challenge saken manatiling gising sa loob ng music room especially kapag may class dahil nagpapatugtog si sir ng weird and music that brings you to dreamland...kaya sabi ko na mas ok ata na reference ako para tuloy tuloy lang mga nangyare..and i think i enjoyed it a lot since i am naturally a very friendly but not friendly looking guy but don't judge the book by its cover ika nga, medyu di na malinaw mga ibang nangyare sa march dahil tinype ko lang mga pangyayare but wasn't able to finish the post so ngayun details were lost, pero alam ko merung isang hapon na di ko talaga kinaya at natulog ako sa music room at pinilit mag power nap hanggang sa sabi ko kay ma. roxanne canaveral na " ma. roxanne canaveral , di ku talaga kaya , uwi na muna ako..." at nangyare ulit yun sa restoration room ang saksi naman doon ata ay si donna princess joy resoso so sabi ko kay donna princess joy resoso "donna princess joy resoso pakigising na lang ako kapag may paparating..." at ngayun sa wakas medyu normal na ang sleeping hours dahil nakakatulog na kami ngayun ng 2-3 hours straight ...kaya this time kapag nag-OJT ako i'll stay up and will professionally accomplish my tasks...hmmm pwede ko rin siguru dalhin twins to help me sa pagcatalog, inventory, cataloging...hmmm not a bad idea

ang hapon na nagbantay ako ng mga music students opened my mind, at magmula ngayun di na ko magiging makulit, hindi pala madali ang magkaroon ng pasensya lalo na kapag may makulit na mga students sa klase, although ayokong maging masungit dahil hindi talaga ako masungit so dinaan ko na lang sa simpleng pag-ubo at onteng galaw sa upuan habang nagcacatalog...kaya imbes na magalit ako eh nagdasal na lang ako " Lord, give me patience , RIGHT NOW!" .. amen

doble doble ulit ulit

at nung nasanay na ko sa pagcatalog i think i was able to set a record cataloging day  of 20-30 cd's (kasama na double cd's) , at dahil ang doble ay may double meaning sa aking personal na buhay dahil may dobleng sayang paparating, tinry ko na dobleng oras akong mag ojt... tuwing may mga issues akong na eencounter sa pagcatalog like double entries sa server, at kung sinu ilalagay na main responsibility, and ma'am flor clearly explains everything to me kahit na paulit ulit ako minsan nagtatanung ...

...and now im back, from being clueless on what to do in the restoration room, this year i started by assisting these "clueless" students look for mozart, not the artist but his music collection and i also was able to actually remember one cd that i cataloged and it was exactly what the professors were looking for  "beethoven pathetique " and i felt like i was a hero that i saved the time of the profs and ate janet :D... save the time of the users save the world....it feels so great to be a librarian

OMG OJT ODK part 1

OH MY GOD, OJT, O D'YOS KO! (Part 1)

I think that this is a spontaneously well-planned semester. The schedule that I set for school incidentally worked out right. I decided to take LIS 199 and 181 thinking that I'll be able to accomplish researching while doing library and restoration work. With my schedule I am able to complete all my classes on wednesdays and fridays and then I have 3 whole days of the week for completing my OJT hours.

Anyways here I am 3 weeks has passed (start of classes) and 2 weeks of on-the-job training and I think I am doing well. Although I felt a little nervous on the first day like a grade school kid looking for his classroom. When I entered College of Music Library everyone seemed happy to see me ( o baka sa isip ko lang yun) then I gave my letter to the head librarian, Ma'am Flor, she asked me about my schedule then she gave a thorough orientation on what to do. Apparently I think we  "practicumers" are going to catalog the wall of compact discs inside the music room. It's not really a hard task to do since we are going to use the ILIB cataloging interface and not write or use a "makinilya."

So I started cataloging by the way we are also allowed to search the materials in the LOC website and Worldcat then we can just use the informations provided in short "copyloging." I finished 8 cds in my first four hours. Cataloging is a skill that when you regularly do it becomes easy .

Speaking of easy, after I finished my library work, I went to do restoration, the moment I opened the room that instant i didn't know what to do... TO BE CONTINUED
